James Auther Ash

James (Jim) was born May 25th, 1936 in Braggadocio, Missouri to Fred Ernest Ash and Rachel Modene Ash. Jim passed away on February 9, 2025 at the age of 88, with his family by his side. Jim married Doris Ruth Russom on September 21, 1954. Jim and Doris had four children, James, Teresa, Janet, and Carol. Jim and Doris moved to California in 1956 and raised their family in Lamont. Jim worked for Simplot, an Agribusiness Fertilizer company for over 40 years.

Jim was a quiet man whose actions spoke louder than words. He was well known for his strength, loyalty, character, and admired by all his family and friends as a devoted husband and father. Jim’s kindness was seen in his willingness to always lend a helping hand in caring for those around him, both young and old. His legacy will be lived out in the lasting impression his exemplary life has left upon his children, grandchildren, and all who knew him.

Jim leaves behind three children - Teresa (Steve) Strang, Janet (Rodger) Harmel, and Carol Ash. Jim also leaves behind 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Jim leaves behind his siblings Johnny Ash, Freddie Ash, Ronnie Ash, and Mary Ann Lee, and Geraldine Bryant.

Jim was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years Doris, son James, grandson Michael, and great granddaughter Lyla Rose.

Services for James are as follows;

A chapel service will be held on Wednesday, February 26th at 10:00 AM at Funeraria Del Hillcrest, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, CA 93306 with a graveside to follow at the Serenity Mausoleum within Hillcrest Memorial Park.
