James "Spooks" Leroy Sherman

James “Spooks" Leroy Sherman, age 85, of Cassville, Missouri, passed away at his home on Sunday, December 29, 2019. Mr. Sherman, son of William and Maude (Whitaker) Sherman, was born on June 23, 1934, in Lemoore, California. Following graduation from high school he enlisted in the United States Army where he served his country proudly. On October 4, 2000, he was united in marriage to Freida Loyd in Lake Tahoe, California; together they moved to the Cassville area in 2002. Some of Jim’s favorite past times were fishing and flying around in his Powerchute airplane. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and will be greatly missed.

James was Predeceased by his wife Peggy Sherman.

He is survived by his wife Freida Sherman, of Cassville; one son, Michael Sherman, of Pierce City; two step-sons, Darren Loyd, of Bakersfield, California, and Steven Rivera and his wife Laura, of Duenweg, one step-daughter, Caci Rivera, of Bakersfield, California; fourteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one brother, Jack Sherman and his wife Julia, of Lake Tahoe, California; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-daughter, Leah Sherman; two brothers; and one sister.

Funeral Services and burial will be held Hillcrest Memorial Park in Bakersfield, California.

Local arrangements are under the direction of the White Funeral Home and Crematory, Cassville, Missouri.
