Jeffrey “Jeff” Lee Gibson, age 65, of Bakersfield, California, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2023. He was born to Marylea Wright and Robert Eugene Gibson. He attended Arroyo Grande High School, where he participated in FFA, football, track, and graduated Class of 1975. He was a talented bowler and participated in many competitions throughout his youth. He continued his education at Bakersfield College where he earned his Associate Degree in Human Services. He went on to receive his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from University of Phoenix. Jeff spent most of his career in the trucking industry, where he mastered the profession, working his way up to management. In 2003 he opened his trucking business, Gibson Transportation.
Jeff loved being surrounded by family and the grandchildren that brought him enormous joy. He had a special way of building confidence in his grandchildren and told them often, “You can do anything you set your mind to”. Jeff was known by many for his kind and generous heart. He was quick to make friends and was always willing to help others. He was your “go to” guy if you needed some sound advice. He loved traveling and was always planning and looking forward to our next trip. He found peace fishing and loved our camping trips to Camp Maddux. He was a simple man and lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed sipping coffee and nibbling on a donut while he watched his favorite TV show, The Price is Right. He was a faithful Green Bay Packers fan and enjoyed coaching kids baseball and keeping score for Frontier High School sports. If he wasn’t busy inside the house you would find him outside working in his yard listening to music. He loved his faithful Labrador, Barney, who was named after Barney Fife from another of Jeff’s favorite shows, The Andy Griffith Show.
Jeff accepted Christ into his life and attended Valley Bible Fellowship. He is preceded in death by his mother Marylea “Mady” Mitchell and his father Robert Eugene Gibson.
