

We celebrate the life and legacy of Lewis “Louie” Lafever, who passed away at the age of 100 in Bakersfield, California. Born in Paris, Tennessee, Lewis lived a remarkable life filled with love, service, humor, and family.
A proud World War II veteran, Lewis landed at Normandy with the 29th Infantry Division and was awarded two Bronze Stars for valor in combat and two Purple Hearts. He completed his service in Berlin, where his cleverness and charm were as memorable as his courage.
In 1947, he married Evelyn Louise Davis, beginning 47 years of marriage and raising a close-knit family. He was known for his generous heart, quick wit, and deep love of fishing, football, and storytelling.
Lewis is preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn, and twin sons, Barry and Larry. He is survived by children Mike and wife Phyillis; Steve and wife Sharon; and Betty Lafever; grandchildren Jeff, Michelle, Jon, Jennifer, and Kyle; great- grandchildren Paige, Mitchell, JonPaul, Parker, Brock, Gino, and Ellie; and many great-great-grandchildren.
May we each strive to live with the heart and humor that Lewis embodied every day of his remarkable 100 years.

A visitation for Lewis will be held Tuesday, August 5, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Hillcrest, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, CA 93306. A graveside service will occur Wednesday, August 6, 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, CA 93306.
