Marjorie Browning, 91, passed away November 14, 2017 in Bakersfield, California after suffering from Alzheimer's disease for several years. Marge was born in Taft, California on January 24, 1926 to parents Harold and Alma Williams. She and her brother Roy were raised by their mother Alma through the depression years in Bakersfield. She attended Bakersfield elementary schools and Kern Union High School. She married A. D. (Jack) Cierley in 1944. Children Jack, Tom and Jennifer were born over the next eight years. Marjorie worked full time for Kern Valley Packing Company while doing an outstanding job raising her family, cooking, sewing, while shuttling all three of her children to many sports activities. Marjorie's first marriage ended in divorce in 1968. She then married Bill Browning in December 1971. Marjorie and Bill enjoyed traveling and spent much of their spare time at their second home in Oceano, Calif. She retired from Kern Valley after 37 years of service. While she was healthy, she spent as many hours as possible in her beautiful yards, planting flowers and gardening. She also continued a skill she had since she was a young girl, making almost all of her own clothes. She also played bridge weekly with her friends until she was unable to, due to health reasons. Marjorie and Bill's marriage spanned (40) years and ended with Bill's passing in February 2012. Bill spent the last two years of his life helping Marjorie with various health issues. Marjorie was predeceased by her mother Alma, father Harold, brother Roy, husband Bill Browning, son Tom Cierley, daughter-in-law Barbara Cierley, step-daughter Billee Etchecopar and husband A. D. (Jack) Cierley. She is survived by her son Jack Cierley (Donna) La Habra, daughter Jennifer Williams Bakersfield, step-son-in-law Albert Etchecopar Bakersfield, step-daughter Jackie Johnson Atascadero, ten grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
