Ona Holler Rimola April 24, 1919 November 17, 2009 - Today our family feels a great loss as our loved one known to many as Ona, Mother, NaNa, and Grandma has left us to join the Lord on November 17, 2009. Ona was born April 24, 1919 in Logan County, Arkansas. She moved to Bakersfield in the early 1940's. Ona worked as a hairdresser for Cornets, later opening Ona's Beauty Salon on Baker Street which she ran until retiring in her 70's. She was a very active member of the First Assembly of God Church. Ona loved to camp, travel, fish, garden, sew and spend time with her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ona was preceded in death by her parents, Calvin and Julia Mitchell; husbands, Joe Howard, Charles Holler, and Paul Rimola; her daughter, Maxine Morton; and nine brothers and sisters. Ona is survived by daughter, Brenda (Roy) Bowden, son-in-law Will Morton; sister, Bonnie Ray; grandchildren, Janell Hamlet, Ron Whittington, Tanya Bird and "Brother John", Mike (Bobbi) Bowden, Jeff Bowden; eleven great grandchildren and thirteen great-great grandchildren. Our Ona loved to sing and spent much of the past few years filling our ears with music from her heart. For years to come we will carry that music with us and though she is gone from our sight she will always be the music in our hearts. Chapel service will be held on Monday, November 23, 10:00 a.m., at Hillcrest Mortuary, with interment to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
