Ponny Jean Porter was born in Baton Rouge, LA and raised in Bakersfield, CA. She loved the Lord, loved people and touched many lives. After a three year struggle with cancer, she went home to be with the Lord.
Ponny Jean was a proud graduate of South High and a devoted worshiper at RiverLakes Church. She was deeply involved with LIFT Ministries in Oildale helping to serve the poor and the homeless. Ponny Jean retired from the State of California Dept. of Corrections in 2009. PJ especially enjoyed all the wonderful times with her dear devoted friends, "The Dirty Dozen."
Ponny Jean was preceded in death by her mother and father Ruth and Dick Burton. She is survived by her husband Art, daughter, Sue Musselman, son, Lew Ed Musselman, and his wife Arlette, daughter, Tamara Barrera, and her husband, Ascencion, son Charles Porter, and his wife, Natasha, twelve grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She is also survived by brother Rick Burton, and his wife, Cindy, sister and brother-in-law, Darlene and Dan Fahey, mother-in-law, Jewel Porter, stepsister Jacque Paulson, and numerous nieces and nephews.
