Rosalind Elizabeth Dewar Anderson was born July 31, 1922, to James Harvey and Lena Bernice Dewar in Salinas, California. She was the youngest of four children, two brothers, and one sister. Her father, James, founded Dewar's Ice Cream and Candy Store in 1909. Rosalind grew up in Bakersfield attending Lowell Elementary and Emerson Junior High. She graduated from Kern County Union High School in 1940. Rosie married James Ross Anderson on December 6, 1941.
In high school, she and her girlfriends formed the "Club". The members continued to meet together several times each year. Many of those members joined the Epsilon Sigma Alpha service sorority. Her group of friends remained close throughout their lives. Rosie loved traveling with her girlfriends to sorority conventions all over the United States and abroad.
Rosie started her life work in her twenties when taught to dip chocolates by her father. Rosie worked dipping chocolate at the candy store well into her eighties. Her children remember that because she dipped chocolate and was around candy all day they rarely had candy at home. They do remember that she always smelled like chocolate.
Rosie always remembered her grandchildren's birthdays and Christmas by sending cards and gifts. She and her husband Ross were very generous.
She is survived by her two children, Patricia Jean Finch (Art) and Kenneth Ross Anderson (Debra), twelve grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren one great-great-granddaughter.
The family would like to thank the current staff at Brookdale Riverwalk/Clairbridge for their care of Rosie. We also would like to thank the caring staff at Hoffmann Hospice Home for their care and compassion during her final days
