Samuel G. Herrera

Samuel "Big Sam" Herrera 1945 - 2011 Sam was born on March 5, 1945 in Austin, Texas to Ines and Catarina Herrera and passed away peacefully with his family by his side on December 3, 2011. A wake service will be held on Thursday December 8, 2011 from 6:00 - 8:30pm at Templo Bethel Assembly of God (10924 San Fernando St. in Lamont) and Funeral Service will be held Friday December 9, 2011 from 9:30 - 11:30am at Templo Bethel Assembly of God with interment to follow at Arvin Cemetery. Sam enjoyed many outdoor activities and spending time with his family and friends. He resided in Lamont for the past 63 years, as a child he worked as a farm laborer picking grapes and cotton he later worked as a Construction Laborer for the Laborers Local 220 for over forty years. He was a strong Christian man that was very involved in his church and loved serving the Lord. Sam is preceded in death by his parent and three siblings Jesus, Refugio and Jose Herrera. Samuel is survived by his loving wife of 43 years Patricia Herrera; children, Rosie Perez and husband John, Beatrice Voyles and husband Mike, Charlotte Herrera, Sarah Herrera and Samuel Herrera, Jr.; eleven grandchildren John Perez III, Anthony Perez, Antoinette Voyles, Andrew Voyles, Moses Perez, Mariah Perez, Samuel Hollingsworth, Oscar Perez, Catarina Perez, Samantha Perez, Elijah Herrera and one great grandchild Alexis Perez; siblings, Rebeca Avila, Rachel Chavez, Benny Herrera, Ines Herrera, Esther Killian, Abel Muniz, Julio Muniz and Dina Pichardo.
