The Rappleyes moved to Bakersfield in 1950, where she attended Bakersfield High School and Bakersfield College, as well as one year at BYU. She worked for over 30 years as the office manager and optician for Dr. Sidney Gonick.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Ronald Rees and Richard Sloss, and son John Rees. She is survived by daughters Barbara Thornton (Steven) and her children Stephanie Thornton-Arias and Sean Thornton, and Linda Graham (Jim) and her daughters Heather, Nicole and Kristine, along with ten great-grandchildren. Also still living is her sister Larraine Scott and brother Fred Rappleye as well as nephews and nieces.
A small family gathering will be held at a later date.
