Steven New

Steven Truitt New (Steve) age 64 of Bakersfield, Ca passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2023. Steve was born May 23,1958 in Amarillo, Tx to Betty Jo and Don New. He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1976 where he played football and made many lifelong friends. In 1980, he married Kimberly Keyser and moved to Bakersfield, California to work in the oilfields. He worked at, then owned and managed Truitt Oilfield Maintenance with his wife Kim over a period of 40 years.

Steve loved spending time with his family and friends, particularly outdoors and on some adventure. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and skiing whether it was on the lake or on the mountain, as long as it was with his family and friends. He always loved being at the family cabin making memories with his kids and grandkids. Every fall Steve, family and friends went to Utah to be outdoors and hunt with their dear friends. Steve raised his children and grandchildren with purpose and used the outdoors, horses, and adventures to foster independence and confidence. He often told them "If you don't get into some trouble every now and then, you won't know how to get out of trouble when you need to".

Steve spent a lifetime investing in others. He mentored many, bailed out some, and befriended countless. He routinely put others before himself and often went to great lengths to help people who others overlooked. He will be remembered for his kind heart, hard work and generosity.

Steve is survived by his wife Kimberly, children Jeremy (wife Jessica), Stephanie, Candace (husband Nathan) and Kaelyn along with grandchildren Bailey, Emery, Owen, Elliott and Charlie Ann. He is also survived by his father Don, brothers Delbert (wife Sherry), Nathan (wife Brenda), and Brandon (wife Stephanie) and many nieces, nephews and extended family. He is preceded in death by his mother Betty Jo.

Steve leaves behind a legacy of hard work, determination, fun and massive love. He will be missed by all who knew him.

A memorial service for Steven will be held Monday, March 6, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, CA 93306.
