Wendell Bruce Montgomery III

W. Bruce Montgomery III May 16, 1935 - May 1, 2012 He was born May 16, 1935 in Chicago, Illinois to Wendell Bruce and LaRue Montgomery. Moved to Wauwatosa, Wisconsin from age 6 to 12 and then to San Jose, California. He has one brother, Phil, married to Evelyn of Redding, California. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1954 through 1957 with two years in Fairbanks Alaska. After graduating from San Jose City College, Bruce went to work for Levi Strauss & Co. for over 16 years as a sales representative in Central California, Washington, Kansas, Nebraska, and finally in Kern County. 1968 was most special, first when Bruce asked Christ to become his Lord and Savior the last Sunday in March, and then on September 7th, when he married the love of his life, Beverly Lois Duerksen. God provided many miracles for them including their son Stephen and his wife Stacey; and their daughter Deborah. Three grandchildren, Tylor, Cody and August have brought great joy to them. Bruce served the Lord with Lois as Youth leaders. He was an AWANA Commander, served as an Elder, worked in Christian Education, taught seniors for over 30 years and served Calvary Bible Church as Business Administrator for 12 years prior to retirement. Bruce and Lois spent many wonderful times at Hume Lake Christian Camps with family and friends, and for 10 amazing years owned a home there. Though they knew health and sickness, being rich and poor, loved endured. Bruce wants you to know the most important lesson he learned, that when God is Lord of your life, He truly provides abundantly for all your needs. A memorial service celebrating Bruce's life will be held at Calvary Bible Church, 48 Manor St., Bakersfield, CA 93308 on Friday, May 11th, at 10:30am, lunch to follow. Burial services will be private.
