

Wesley "Wes" Burrow, a long-time resident of Bakersfield, California and most recently a resident of Sierra Vista, Arizona, went to be with his Lord on April 16, 2016 at the age of 84 following a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease.
He was born in Whittier, California on March 3, 1932, the son of Elmer and Merle Burrow. He graduated from Bakersfield High School, Bakersfield College, and Fresno State College. Mr. Burrow served four years in the US Navy aboard the aircraft carrier US Philippine Sea during the Korean conflict.
Wes married Carol Bowers of Cherry Run, West Virginia, on May 1, 1955, one day after his honorable discharge from the Navy. They relocated to his home state of California in 1959 and he completed his education while working part-time for the US Postal Service. He then worked briefly for the Kern County Welfare Department before transferring to the Kern County Probation Department's Juvenile Division where he remained until his retirement in 1992. After retiring he and Carol travelled extensively to many countries around the world.
Mr. Burrow was a long-time member of First Methodist Church in Bakersfield and later the Sierra Vista United Methodist Church. He was an avid golfer and charter member of Sundale Country Club in Bakersfield and continued to enjoy the game as a member of the Pueblo del Sol Country Club in Sierra Vista after moving there in 2003. He was a former member and president of Kern Kiwanis Club in Bakersfield and a former member of the Southern Valley Tournament Golf Association. In the 60's he was a manager and coach for the Greenfield Baseball Association.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of nearly 61 years, Carol; son David (Stacy) Burrow of Thousand Oaks, California; daughter Dana Burrow of Roseville, California; daughter Joyce (Jeff) Stranger of Elk Grove, California; five grandchildren - Ryan Burrow, Ashley Burrow, Jacqueline Paschane, Katherine Gardiner, Jesse Paschane; two great-grandchildren - Grace and Matthew Gardiner. He is also survived by two brothers - Jim and Ron Burrow of Bakersfield.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 30, at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to the Alzheimer's Association.
