Willie Lee Harris

Willie Lee Harris, 67, passed away at his home in Bakersfield, California, on January5, 2022. Born on November 9, 1954, in Silver City, New Mexico, Willie was the third of nine children born to Arthur and Dorothy Harris (nee Woodford). He and his family moved to Bakersfield when he was young, and he later attended Foothill High School where he met his wife, Cheryl (nee Williams). they married in 1976 and had two children: Jason and Jared.

Willie worked for the City of Bakersfield for two decades in various roles. He was a prolific artist, particularly adept at landscape painting. Willie was a track athlete and played fullback at both Foothill and Bakersfield College, and would maintain his love of football for the rest of his life (rooting for the Miami Dolphins every Sunday).

Willie is survived by his wife, Cheryl; son Jason and his wife Jennifer, and their son, Sebastian; son Jared and his two daughters, Domino and River; brothers Robert and Murray, and sisters Elizabeth and Kissieri; sister-in-law Kathy; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Dorothy, brothers Arthur Jr., Archibald, and sister Geraldine.
