

Jon Henry Kelly was born in Kinta Oklahoma on Oct. 30th,1934 to Ercell and Margaret.His parents divorced when Jon was young. Bert Burns and Margaret raised Jon and his sister Patricia in Ada Oklahoma (where he met the love of his life Sue). Jon’s family moved around quite a bit but He spent most of his teenage years in Compton and Long Beach California where Jon worked his way to manager of a grocery store. Upon graduation, Jon went to Redlands University. Jon continued to court his childhood friend and sweetheart. Sue and Jon married in Ada Oklahoma on Dec. 29th, 1955. Jon finished his Bachelor's degree at East Central College there in Ada. Shortly thereafter, the young couple moved to Garden Grove Ca. In April 1957 Jon was drafted into the Airforce. He served as a Chaplain Services Specialist and they moved to Sault Ste. Marie Michigan where their first daughter, Kimberly was born. After the service, Jon got a job teaching and the Kelly’s moved to Barstow Ca in 1962. It was shortly thereafter that their 2nd daughter Kaye was born. Mr. Kelly worked for Barstow Unified Schools for 35 years at Barstow Jr. High School, John F Kennedy High School and Barstow High School where he zealously taught English Literature, Composition and Shakespeare. The last several years he finished out his career as librarian. Additionally Jon owned and operated Kelly’s Jet Music, a Pingame and vending machine business. Later in life Jon lived at the Veterans home in Barstow and for the last two and a half years lived with his daughter Kim and son in law Wade. He went on to his eternal home with the Lord on January 22nd, 2022. He is survived by his two daughters, Kim and Kaye, and their husbands Wade Harris and Jim Webster. Grandchildren Camren and husband Brandon Jones, Kristen and husband Anthony Ferguson, and Nathan Webster, Christopher and Taylor Pitts. Grandchildren Derik Webster, Tristan Howard, and Alley Delany. Great-grandchildren, Brooke and Harper Jones, Asher and Lyla Ferguson, Dylan, Brett and Madison Howard, Aeden and Audrinna Webster, Peyton and Patrick Ferreria, C.J. and Laylauna Delany. Jon loved Jesus, his family and teaching. He also greatly enjoyed golf, cribbage, traveling with his wife, Sue, Pavarotti, birdwatching and his dogs. He leaves a legacy of compassion, learning, integrity and generosity. Bampaw, you will be greatly missed.
