Judith Faye Smith

Judith “Judy” Faye Smith, born 12 May 1940, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday 12 January 2026. Judy lived her life as a dedicated mom, wife, grandma, aunt and friend. She will be missed for her quick wit and her caring and thoughtful nature. Judy is preceded in death by her mother and father, Elizabeth “Sis” Ivester and Thurman Owens. She is also joining her husband, Howard Smith, and her son Howard “Butch” Smith Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Denise “Dee Dee” Evans, as well as her grandchildren: Bryce, Elizabel, Ezra, Hunter, Logan, and Richie. She also held a special importance as “Mom” to both Ken Carden and Laura Smith.

As a family, we hope to continue her legacy as a strong-willed and caring individual. It is no doubt that Judy’s memory will continue to inspire everyone she knew to be thoughtful and engaged members of their communities. Her friends and family will miss her deeply, but believe that she will have a lasting impact on us all

A viewing will be held at Mead Mortuary, located at 36930 Irwin Road, Barstow, CA 92311, on January 27, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. The graveside service will follow to take place at Barstow Cemetery District, Mt View Cemetery, Barstow, CA 92311, on January 27, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 1:40 pm.
