Manuel G. Garcia, a beloved father, grandfather, and cornerstone of his family, passed away peacefully at the Veterans Home of California in Barstow, CA, on August 5th, 2025. He was 94 years old. Born on August 10, 1930, in Ashfork, Arizona, Manuel lived a life dedicated to his family, his country, and his faith.
Manuel was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Louise, and his son, Manuel Jr., Mother Maria De La Luz Hernandez, Brother Margarito Garcia, Sisters Elisa Ramirez and Rosa Fox. He is survived by his daughters, Maryann Gonzales of Riverside, CA, Mary Madeline Castorena and husband Pedro of Jurupa Valley, CA and his brother Fernando Hernandez of Barstow CA. His legacy continues through his 8 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews all of whom were deeply loved by him.
A proud veteran, Manuel served his country with honor in the United States Navy during the Korean War. After his military service, he dedicated 30 years to the Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow, retiring as a warehouse leader. His strong work ethic and commitment were admired by all who knew him.
Beyond his professional life, Manuel was deeply involved in his community. He was a dedicated volunteer at St. Joseph's Church, where he served as a maintenance man, always willing to lend a hand and contribute to his church family.
Manuel had a passion for music and found great joy in playing his guitar, singing Ranchera and Mariachi songs as well as an assortment of original compositions. He loved sharing his music with family and friends, creating cherished memories that will last a lifetime.
Above all else, Manuel loved his family, his church, good food, and a cold beer. He was the bedrock of his family, a source of strength, wisdom, and unwavering support. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit and the values he instilled will live on in the hearts of his loved ones.
Viewing and reception will be on August 19th, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Mead Mortuary 36930 Irwin Rd, Barstow, CA 92311.
A Rosary will be held at 9:00 a.m. and Mass at 10:00 a.m. on August 20th, 2025, at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church 505 E Mountain View St, Barstow, CA 92311.
Manuel will be laid to rest at Riverside National Cemetery August 27th at 10:15 a.m., 22495 Van Buren Blvd, Riverside, CA 92518.
