Mary Minnie Thorn, 77, a resident of Yermo for 35 years, passed away March 21, 2018 in Barstow Hospital. She was born December 20, 1940 in New Waterford CBNS, Canada. She moved to the states in 1962 where she met Raymond Thorn and married on August 12, 1963. From then on became a housewife and loving mother. Minnie and Ray moved around due to Ray being in the Navy. He retired and they settled down in Yermo California to be near her sister Pauline Smithson. She baked and decorated cakes as a side business for many years and were lived by locals. When she was not doing one or the other she loved to play games on her computer or talk to family whenever possible. She was family oriented person, who loved them so, and would help out whenever possible. She was a selfless and loving woman who will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her mother Minnie Feit; father Mathias Feit; husband Raymond Thorn Sr.; son John Thorn; and siblings Josephine Head, Mathias Feit, Anita Lee and Frank Fraser. Survivors include son; Raymond Thorn Jr.; daughters Paula Hazelett and husband Barry, Valerie Eastman and husband Mark, and Susan Thorn. Grandsons John and Blaine Thorn; granddaughters Ashley Franczak and husband Joe, Autumn and Hope Hazelett, Audrey Stoltenberg, April Eastman and fiancé Richard Zavala; and one great granddaughter Aislyn Franczak. Surviving siblings are Mary Murphy, Annie Deruelle, Renee Langer, Frances MacKinnon, Pauline Smithson, Simon Feit and wife Alice. Visitation will be held Monday April 2, 2018 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Mead Mortuary 36930 Irwin Road. A service will be held Tuesday April 3, 2018 at 10 a.m. also at Mead Mortuary. Burial will be at Mountain View Memorial Park, 37067 Irwin Road.
