Raymond Jon Hokanson

Raymond Jon Hokanson, 81, of Barstow, California, was born February 23, 1936 in Bell, California to the late Carl Raymond Hokanson (Genevieve) and Laura Francis Clarke Hokanson MacArthur (Burt MacArthur) and died April 24, 2017 in Riverside, California. Ray, as he was affectionately known, was a retired truck driver for Yellow Freight. He was preceded in death by his parents and step-parents, two brothers, Glen Hokanson and Dennis Kelly and brother-in-law, Fred MacArthur. He is survived by his wife of 62 years and the love of his life, Joanne Arlene Hokanson, his children, Renee/Robert Kropac, Mitchell Hokanson/Denise McNicol and Lori/James Tawney, his grandchildren, Heather Kropac/Brian Murphy, Sheldon/Autumn Lane, Jonathan Kropac, James/Stephanie Kropac, Jessica/Peter Kitchell, Randy/Christina McNicol, Marsha/Robbie Lueck, Tyler/Nickie McNicol, Lance/Jessica McNicol, James/Whitney Tawney, Jana/Matthew Luzaich and Dayna/Joshua Anderson and great grandchildren, who he adored. He is also survived by his sister Gwen MacArthur, brothers, Edward/Peggy Uribe, Richard Uribe, sister-in-law, Donna Kelly, nieces and nephews, his dog, Honey and his many friends. Ray had a true love of life and whatever life threw at him, he kept on "truckin". He had a smile for everyone and never met a stranger. He was a man of his word and the rock of his family. He traveled the world and loved hunting, fishing, carving, collecting and cars. He loved and was loved. As per his request, he will be cremated. A memorial and celebration of his life will be held Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 10 am at Mead Mortuary, 36930 Irwin Road, Barstow, California, and a reception in his honor will follow at the Barstow Senior Citizens Center, 555 Melissa Avenue, Barstow, California. In lieu of flowers, donations in his honor may be made to the Barstow Senior Citizens Center or pass the love he gave you forward.
