

Arthur Galvan was born at 6:00am on June 4th, 1949, at Santa Monica Hospital in Santa Monica, California to his parents Arturo and Elida Galvan. Arthur was the oldest of 5 children and grew up in Venice, California where he met his high school sweetheart Magdalena Zepeda whom he married on March 30th, 1968.
In July of 1968 Arthur enlisted in the Army and went into basic training. After completing basic training, Arthur then went to train at the Army Airborne Academy in Georgia. Upon graduation from the Academy, he was deployed to Vietnam in August of 1968. There he joined the 173rd Airborne Brigade and did two tours in Vietnam until 1971. During his time in the military Arthur became a decorated hero, earning the distinguished Air Medal, two Bronze Star medals, one with the “V” designation for Valor, two Purple Hearts, a Good Conduct Medal, Parachutist badge, Sharpshooter badge, and his Marksman Badge.
After leaving the military in 1971 Arthur began work as a Pharmacy Technician at the West Los Angeles Veterans Hospital where he spent the first 14 years of his career there until 1985. In 1985 he transferred to the Loma Linda Veterans hospital and continued his career as a Pharmacy Technician for 10 more years until 1995. During his career as a Pharmacy Technician Arthur was also involved with the union AFGE local 1061. Through his participation and passion for helping others he became Vice President of their union and later held the position as Business Agent until 1998.
In 1998 Arthur began work as a Call Center Representative for AT&T Mobility but his passion for the union and the work they did, called him to participate once again. He became a steward for the Communications Workers of America (CWA) local 9510. Arthur ran for Vice President in the next election which he won because no one was brave enough to run against him. Arthur spent the remainder of his career with CWA as Vice President until he retired in 2019.
Arthur Galvan passed away on August 28th, 2021, at the age of 72. He is preceded in death by his parents Arturo and Elida Galvan. He is survived by his brothers and sister Michael Galvan, Carlos Galvan, Richard Galvan, and Angie Galvan. His ex-wife Magdalena Tange. His sons Gilbert Galvan and Gabriel Galvan. His daughter in laws Liz Galvan and Crystal Galvan. His grandchildren Raymond Galvan, Vincent Galvan, Breanna Galvan, Elizabeth Herrera, Jade Herrera, Whitney Whitaker, Candace Whitaker, Aaron Whitaker, Jiselle Whitaker, Gabriella Galvan, and Marianna Galvan. HIs Great grandchildren Raymond Galvan Jr., Erick Galvan, Aaron Galvan, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Jaylen Rodriguez, and Lincoln Rodriguez.
