Byrna Deane Walling

Byrna Deane Walling (nee Smith), age 90, passed away Sunday, October 20, 2013 at her home in Banning, California in the presence of her family. She was born April 29, 1923 in Forest Grove, Oregon and grew up in San Diego, a city which remained a favorite destination over the years.

After high school, Deane attended La Sierra College, in Riverside, California where she met her close friend and future sister-in-law, Marie Walling. She married Harold Walling on October 23, 1945 and they settled in Beaumont, California, where Dr. Walling established his dental practice. Deane was an active member of the Beaumont Seventh-Day Adventist Church, serving as the church organist for a number of years. She enjoyed music and reading, as well as spending time with her family and is remembered for her hospitality and excellent cooking.

Deane was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Harold Walling and her sister Beth Whitaker. She is survived by her children and their spouses; Teresa and David Mitchell of Morristown, New Jersey and Ken and Sally Walling of Beaumont, California. Deane is also survived by 5 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; sister-in-law Marie Walling and brother-in-law James Walling, as well as four nieces and two nephews.

Memorial service Friday, October 25, 2013, at 1:00pm, at Weaver Mortuary, 1177 Beaumont Avenue, Beaumont, California. Private inurnment at Mt. View Cemetery, 1315 Edgar Avenue, Beaumont, California.
