Diane was Born April 13, 1954 to the parents of Gladys and George Eckels. She married Richard Storms and together they had two daughters, Heather on December 17th 1976 and Chrystal on October 19th 1978 while living in Riverside, California.
My mother was a jack of all trades. She worked several jobs following her divorce which included Nursing the graveyard shift and accounting/bookkeeping during the day. When Diane moved to Anza California she started working for H & R Block in Hemet and had her own jewelry making side hussle attending trade shows and swap meets to make ends meet. She started her own tax and accounting business soon after. My mother started having difficulties breathing and she learned she had asthma due to the moisture from the elevation of Anza thus making the move to La Quinta California a must.
While living in La Quinta she did several temp jobs and many secretary positions which landed her into the Desert Sands School District where she joined PCM3 Construction management. This was the job that changed my mothers life forever. She met several people in this position and moved up in the company which got her started in NAWIC (National Association For Women in Construction). She subsequently created a partnership forming CAL K-12 where she managed several school remodels all over Southern California.
When Diane started having severe pain and tripping often, it was discovered that she had an epidural abscess that needed immediate surgery to have the infection removed. She spent Thanksgiving in a chemically induced coma because she was so fragile and almost died.
After Diane left CAL K-12, retirement was not easy and she became more involved in NAWIC where she was president. She traveled the United States attending many NAWIC conventions with her mother as her guest and best friend. She served on many regional and national committees while being a member of NAWIC. Diane also served on the board for the Ronald McDonald house in Loma Linda raising funds and awareness to their cause. She recently ventured back into tax services working for H & R Block and quickly became an Enrolled Agent.
Diane was a rare, unique, altruistic soul, so kind and loving to everyone that came into her path. She has touched many and changed so many lives. Everyone who has met her will remember her strong will and eagerness to help everyone.
Diane (70) is survived by 2 daughters; Heather (47), Chrystal (45) and 4 grandchildren; Tobias (24), Izabelle (18), Madisen (17), MJ (12) and her older brother; Rodney
