Jo-Ann (Pitts) Porter went to be with her Heavenly father after an extended illness in her home, September 02, 2016 in Banning, California surrounded by loving family and friends at the age of 80 years, 1 month. She was born August 02, 1936 to Claud and Deloma Pitts, in Hominy, Osage County, Oklahoma. She was the sixth of seven children that included Elmer Lee, Lloyd C., Evelyn Laverne, Leonard Leon, Geraldine and Glenn Andrew.
She married the love of her life Eli Porter and moved to California in 1962 where they raised their family in Banning, California. They made life-long friends here since neither had family nearby. She made occasional trips to Oklahoma to visit family and friends. Altough she loved the Oklahoma rain, sitting on the porch at the first sign of the first raindrop, she was terrified of tornados and always said she would rather be at home with an earthquake. She loved listening to music of George Jones, who was probably the only other man that make her turn her head besides Eli.
She loved to laugh, visit with her family, both near and far, and wanted everyone to have a good time. She brought smiles to our faces when she would say "Lordy Lou, Lordy Lou,"whether she was tickled, uncomfortable, or just because. One of her favorite things was hummingbirds, she could sit and watch them in the window for hours.
We all miss her and the way she made us feel special and loved. We find comfort in knowing she is healthy and happy in the company of Jesus, finally reunited with Eli, Tony and others that she loved and missed so much.
She is survived by four sons, Jerry (Carla) Magner of Newkirk, OK, Len (LIsa) Foster, Mark (Mona) Porter, Terry (April) Porter all of Banning, one son Dallas of Overland Park, KS, a brother, Elmer Pitts of Hominy, OK, and sister, Geraldine Stanbrough of Chicago, IL, sister-in-law Evelyn Pitts, Hominy, OK and Iva Pitts, Newkirk, OK, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sons Tony Foster, husband Eli Porter, brothers Lloyd, Leonard and Glenn Pitts, and sister Evelyn Roberts.
Arrangements under the direction of Weaver Mortuary, Beaumont, CA.
