Joseph A. Metz Sr., 80, passed away on Monday, February 26, 2018 at his home in Sun Lakes, Banning, California. He was born August 15, 1937 in Cleveland, Ohio to Joseph & Catherine Metz. Joe enlisted in the United States Air Force from 1954 – 1957 and he was an active member of our local VFW Post 233, Friends of Bill W. and the American Legion. He graduated from the University of Redlands with a Bachelor’s degree in 1985 and Joe had worked for many companies in Ohio, Maryland, California and eventually retiring from McDonnell Douglas.
Jos is survived by his wife of 57 years, Shirley Metz of Banning, CA; daughter, Robin Metz of Las Vegas, NV; sons, Michael Metz of Irvine, CA and Joseph A. Metz, Jr of Cypress, CA; brother, Robert Metz of Ohio; sister, Judith Moody of Ohio; 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
A Memorial service is scheduled for Friday, March 23, 2018 at 10:30am at Weaver Mortuary, 1177 Beaumont Avenue, Beaumont, CA 92223. Interment will follow at 12:45pm at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd., Riverside, CA 92518, Staging Area #4. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the VFW Post 233, 450 E. 4th Street, Beaumont, CA 92223.
