As a kid growing up, Mary Jo and Barbara (always "Miss Knight" and "Miss Coniglio" to my sister and I) were two of the nicest, kindest, and most thoughtful people I knew.  I always enjoyed when my parents would go over to their home for an evening and take us kids.  We would play with their friendly dogs, eavesdrop on their conversations with our parents about the topics of the day, and enjoy the truly delicious meals they made.  I always had a great time.  And even as a kid I recognized that Mary Jo and Barbara were extraordinarily good people.  Mary Jo was that rare type of person who had such personal integrity and sense of humor that she always brought out the best in the people around her.  (And Barbara is one of the funniest and flat-out nicest persons there is.)  I grew up, left Beaumont, had kids of my own, and it's been a number of years since I saw Miss Knight.  But I can still picture her as clearly as if I were a 10-year old kid pulling up to her and Barbara's home with our parents in our car, and being greeted at the door by Mary Jo's wonderful smile.

My first memories of Mary Jo Knight was in the library as Coombs School in 1968. She ran the library with an iron fist and lots of discipline, but she was always fair about it. That's what I'll miss about her.

This is sad news. I first met Miss Knight back in Jr. High - in 1970. I worked with her as a library assistant.  I have shared the news with the rest of my fellow alumni. May she rest in peace. She will always be remembered.

I am so very sorry I cannot be there in person to honor and remember Mary Jo. She will always be in my heart and in my memory as one the first people who welcomed me to Banning over twenty five years ago. I will always remember Mary Jo as the great gal who introduced me to some amazing experiences like taking me to Laughlin for the first time in my life! I wish I could be there to celebrate her grand life.

Barb, you are in my thoughts and prayers; please know I am but a phone call away if you need anything. 

To her wonderful family that she loved and cared so much about my deepest sympathy. She always spoke to me about how terrific all of you were.

The Queen of the Library is in heaven now giving the angels orders, and keeping those books and magazines neatly in place on those heavenly shelves!

We were really saddened with the news of Miss Knight's passing.  I can still see her at the door of the library at Coombs School, patrolling the hallway near the principal's office. I also remember how she loved the athletic teams at Banning High and volunteered her time for years to support all their programs. She and Miss Coniglio are two of our favorite people from our school years and it's with much regret that we can't get to the memorial service. Our love to you Barbara, we will miss Mary Jo.
