From an early age, Richard’s steady determination and natural warmth were evident. As an excellent baseball player in his youth, he showed the kind of discipline and good-humored spirit that would remain hallmarks of his life—qualities that drew people in and made them feel at ease in his presence.
Richard served time in the Navy on a ship, carrying forward a faithful sense of duty and a quiet strength. In his professional life, he loved working as a director for Parks & Recreation, a role well-suited to his hard-working, thoughtful nature and his sincere desire to contribute in ways that mattered.
On November 8th, 2003, Richard married, and he took deep pride in his family life. He was a devoted father to three beautiful daughters and a wonderful grandfather, cherished for his gentle guidance, loyal presence, and the wise, steady care he offered so freely.
Richard’s days were often marked by simple pleasures and steadfast routines—crossword puzzles completed daily, and, above all, golf. He lived and breathed the game, remaining an avid golfer even with a handicap. His compassion and generosity were especially evident in the way he gave of his time, volunteering through golfing by helping with divot doctoring and pairings. He brought a selfless spirit to these moments, never seeking recognition, only wanting things to run smoothly and others to feel included.
Those who knew Richard often said that everyone who met him liked him—and it was easy to understand why. He was honest, kind-hearted, and deeply considerate, with a gentle humor that could brighten a conversation without ever asking for the spotlight. Richard loved the people he golfed with and was truly thankful to be part of the golfing community, a place where his faithful friendship and generous heart found daily expression.
Richard will be remembered as beloved and cherished—an enduring example of compassion, loyalty, and quiet wisdom. His life leaves a lasting imprint on all who had the privilege to know him.
