Frances and Family 

We are saddened to learn of Ricks passing.  Our hearts are broken for you. Rick was a great person. We are thankful that we had Rick and Frances , as lake house neighbors in Ten Mile.  We send hugs and prayers for the family.

To Rick Weaver's Family from the Van Kirk Family

We Van Kirks are saddened to learn of cousin Ricky Weaver's passing onward, and we send our condolences to Francis and all the kids and grandkids and our mutual family cousins. 

It has been a pleasure to get to know Francis in modern times and Ricky since we were children in Banning and on the Morongo Reservation.  Ricky and his two sisters Phyllis and Jackie were as good as people can be, just like their parents Marion and Phil.

We 4 Van Kirk kids; Susie, Craig, Gary, and Linda benefitted from the friendships of the Weaver, Nicochea, and Mathews families. The kids and the parents. 

And Gramma Cline was an excellent center piece for all of us to gather round. Some of us youngsters were quite close: Ricky and Craig and Gary and Wayne Nicochea, Phyllis and Susie and cousin Pat Parton, Jackie and Roselee Nicochea and Linda.

Wayne, Linda Mathews, Denice Bryant (Van Kirk), and Craig all went through most of Banning schools together, with fun and fond memories.

Even though many of our friends and mutual family members have passed on, let's all recall them and our times with them with fondness.

Remember the Roundups, tortillas and beans, Sunday School with Aunt Marion at the Moravian Church with Mrs. Eastman, many Holidays together, playing games and sports and horses together, visiting the Weavers in Needles. 

Recall Snow Creek Camp, Windy Point, The Sand Bar and the Highway Department yard nearby. These are places where Ricky and Craig first met when they were babies and toddlers. Playing together and Cabazon School in the first grade.

The Morongo Cahuilla have played such an important and good role in all our lives for so many decades, and it has been satisfying to see their evolution. The traditional Tribal ceremonies for Ricky Weaver will be so meaningful, as they have been for other people for centuries.

Mr Weaver my favorite name for him  loved all the great time with him an Frances during our travels together he loved stopping at the dollar general with her an I🫣 he will be missed by me an so many others who really knew him

Roy and I are so sorry you had to say goodbye to your Daddy, but we are very happy he was able to be close to you and your children for so many years. A sweet memory I have of your daddy is him bringing you to our house. During the school year, it was easy for you to spend the night, because you could ride the bus home with me. And later it was easy because we could pick you up on the way to church and you could ride home with us. But in the summertime, when we were very young, and before we started going to church at Watts Bar Church of God, it was a little more challenging! Wolf Creek to Roddy seemed really far when there was no other reason to drive it than two little girls who wanted to spend time together. Your daddy could seem a little gruff to me, but that was a facade! He obviously had a sweet heart, because I clearly remember him being begged and cajoled into driving ALL THE WAY TO OUR HOUSE with little Rene' and her packed bags in tow. :) And my mama was waiting and glad for her "other daughter" to be at her second home for awhile.

One of my favorite memories from growing up was going up to Tennessee to visit Uncle Rick and Aunt Frances! One time in particular Uncle Rick had made a potato gun. Of course, him and my dad sent me out to a field to try and catch the potato’s after they shot them into the air! Always makes me laugh thinking about that. 

Whether it was taking the boat out on the lake or burning leaves in a barrel, we always enjoyed visiting with Uncle Rick. He will be missed and Emily and I send prayers to our family in Tennessee and California. Love you guys!

My Uncle Rick loved to hide his jellybeans and little Debbie’s from me.  He loved to tease me because I loved them too.  I loved traveling to special places with Uncle Rick and Aunt Frances and family.  They traveled all the way to Japan to cheer me on in the 2005 Special Olympics World Games.  I will really miss my Uncle Rick and will treasure the memories.
