I can remember a miserable rainy day in march of 1995 when I was supposed to arrive at he Colton yard office at 8A.M. SHARP!  I left my house at 6:45 to make the 38 mile drive. the rain was coming down in sheets and there was nothing but accidents and traffic. Needless to say, I was 30 minutes late. They sat me on a bench right across from Roger's office and there they were, Roger Boone and Roger Mowry, glaring at me. I don't remember which Roger walked over to me and my young son and proceeded to tell me ,while pointing to his watch, that the "Railroad ran on time and that doesn't mean 30 minutes late"!   Long story short, he invited me into the office where the two grumpy ol' men gave me the once over and then hired me on the spot. Those two guys turned out to be the nicest, kindest people that you would ever want to meet. I will cherish the memory and the amazing opportunity and career that they allowed me to have at the Union Pacific.  God Bless and Rest in Peace Roger.     Engineer, Robert Allen and Family.

To Roger's Family,  It was a miserable, rainy day in 1995 and I was 30 minutes late for my interview with the Southern Pacific Rail Road. I can remember looking through the office door and seeing Roger Boone and Roger Mowrey giving me the eyeball. Once I got to sit in front of these two grumpy old characters , they reminded me that the railroad ran "ON TIME"!!!    Luckily, they gave me the chance of a lifetime and I was hired on the spot.  Both of those gruff old devils turned out to be wonderful, kind, caring, great guys!  Had it not been for them, this 45 year old, out of work, father of three, would  have, almost certainly, been in real trouble.  My deepest thoughts and prayers go out to all members of his family and may peace be with you. I will remember him always.  With deepest condolences, Locomotive Engineer,  Robert Allen and family      Thankyou Roger, you saved my life!
