Despite her dad calling nicknaming her “Brat” as a child, Alice was joyous and kind as a child—traits that would follow her throughout her life. A member of the Cranberry Baptist Church, Alice was strong in her faith, putting her love and trust in the Lord. She was known to be generous and kind, always putting others above herself and giving to anyone in need, even when she didn’t have much herself. She believed in her faith so strongly she often devoted her free time to listening to tapes, reading scripture, and as much literature about God’s promise that she could. Some would even joke her home could rival that of a minister’s with not a single surface untouched by a book or scripture. She was a wonderful mother and loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren more than anything in the world. Alice also deeply enjoyed art whether it be painting, coloring, or sketching, she understood the beauty of all things in life. She also enjoyed attending auctions and traveling with her husband, always enjoying their time spent together and never sharing a dull moment between them. She will be truly missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Brooks and her grandmother Ester. Those left to cherish her memory is her mother Joyce Sheldon, husband Paul Jones, her children Steven Demoss (Christina), Chris Demoss (Samantha), Leonard “Allen” Demoss (Leanna), with numerous grandchildren including Mikey Demoss, Sam Demoss, Neviana Demoss, Hunter Demoss, Jasmine Demoss, Destiny Demoss, Hailee Demoss, Romin Demoss, Aneesa Demoss, and her siblings John Brooks II, Charles Brooks, and Fred Brooks. Along with many nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, and her two beloved dogs.
Blue Ridge Funeral Home of Beckley, WV, has the privilege of honoring her final wishes to be cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date, to be announced.
