April Johnette Whitfield

April Johnette Gulbin Whitfield, of Buckhannon, West Virginia, went to be with her sister in heaven on May 24, 2016 at home. She was 52. She was born on December 30, 1963 in Beckley, WV. She attended Mount Hope High School. On June 16, 1986 she married Robert Aaron Whitfield of Beckley, WV. April was involved in many community organizations. She was a member of the Upshur County Shrine Club, VFW Post 3663, American Legion Post 7, and volunteered at the Upshur County Senior Center. She was always there for anyone who needed her. While her husband was stationed at Miesau Army Depot in Germany, she volunteered and managed the Arts and Crafts Center on post as well as working as a clerk to orientate and process new soldiers. She was a member of the Family Support Group for A Battery 1/201 Field Artillery in Elkins WV during their deployment to Iraq in 2004 - 2005. She was a unique soul who touched many lives. She will be greatly missed. April is survived by her Husband Aaron, her Mother April J. Gwinn and her Father Lonnie Warwick She was preceded in death by her sister Ajon. April is survied by her Aunts and Uncles Zona Stafford of Sherwood , AR, Mary and Louie Stella of Beaver, Dale and Jo Lynn Hoke of Sherwood, AR, and Melody and Jim Davis of Tallahasse, FL. Step brothers and sisters Terry and Mary Beth Warwick and sons Jack and Jake of Alcoa, TN, Gina Dunmore of Alcoa, TN, Amanda, Ollie and Michael Odom of Maryville, Tn. She was loved by all her cousins and extended family members. A memorial service will be held at Mount Hope Baptist Temple on Saturday May 28, 2016 at 1:00 pm following with a celebration of her life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in April's name to the Mount Hope Baptist Temple in Mount Hope, WV.
