

Archie G. “Charlie” Green, 90, of Coal City. Born May 14, 1931 in North Fork WV; he was the son of the late John Pierson and Ida Mae Green.
Charlie as he was affectionately known by family and friends was accepted into God’s arms, Wednesday, August 4, 2021.
He was the most caring and kind hearted man, and didn’t know any strangers. A devout Christian for the last 25 years and attended Coal City Freewill Baptist Church. Charlie loved woodworking and working with his hands. Everyone knew when he was around by his whistling, as he loved to whistle. Charlie served his country proudly in the United States Army as a Staff Sergeant during the Korean War. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
Charlie was preceded in death by a son, Derek Lane Green; brothers, Paul, Dale, and Larry; sisters, Verla, Verna, Lola, Carrie, Beatrice, and Loraine.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 65 years, Barbara, who compassionately cared for him for the last several years of his life. He was her sweetheart. He is also survived by his son, Frosty and wife, Kristie; grandchildren, Golden (Jodi), Shane, Jaclyn (Mike), and Skyler Gale; great grandchildren, Hunter (Brianna), Alexi, Emma, Jonas, James, Jared, Lukas, Jordan, Kelly, Shaniya, Mackenzie, and Maverick; great-great-grandchildren, Willow, Rhett, Ellie, and soon to be born, Lennox; sisters, Betty and Kathy. He will also be sadly missed by his brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and their dog, Tebow.
Services to celebrate the life of Archie G. “Charlie” Green will be held 2:00pm Sunday, August 8, 2021 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley with Pastor Charlie Brown officiating assisted by Pastor Troy Campbell. Family and friends will be serving as pallbearers. Military honors will be conducted by the Mercer County Veterans Honor Guard. Following the services Charlie will be laid to rest at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.
Friends may gather with the family from 12:00pm until time of the service Sunday at the funeral home.
