Betty Jo Sampson Biggs, 74, of Thurmond, passed away Monday, July 4, 2016, following a long illness. Born March 23, 1942 in Beckley, West Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Andrew Sampson, Sr. and Dolly Allen Sampson. Betty was of the Baptist Faith. She enjoyed cooking, baking, caring for the neighborhood children and being with her family and friends. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sisters, Joann Daniel and Dorothy Miles. Those left to cherish her memory includes her companion of 32 years, Wally Gardner of Thurmond; daughters, Roxanna Adkins and husband Kim of Thayer, WV, Teresa Gardner and husband Chuck of Scarbro, and Robin Thompson and husband Raymond of Prosperity; brother, Andrew Sampson, Jr. and wife Diane of Sandlick; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
