

Mom will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great- grandmother. She will be missed by all her family but especially by her daughter Janet and husband Ronnie with whom she made her home. Rest high on the mountain mom; you earned your wings when you went to sleep. You fought a long battle but now you are at peace. I love you, Janet. Betty Lou Haynes, 85 of Bolt, formally of Oceana, passed away November 4, 2015. She was the daughter of the late Clyde Cowan and Elvie Helen Mankin Cowan. She was born March 13, 1930 in Mullens, West Virginia. She is preceded in death by her parents; Clyde Cowan and Elvie Helen Mankin Cowan; her loving husband of 52 years, James L. Haynes Sr; Step Father, Robert Kidd; Infant son, Elemual Dwayne Haynes; and grandson, James L. Haynes II. Those left to cherish Betty’s memory are sons, James Haynes and wife Anna of Hebron, Ohio and David Haynes and wife Marketta of Lexington, North Carolina; Daughters, Janet Foster and husband Ronnie of Bolt, Belinda Haynes Bolt of Daniels, and Carolyn Moore and husband David of Bolt; Brothers, Ernest Cowans and wife Marilynd of Oregon and Guy Cowan of Portland, Oregon; Brother is laws, Dutch Short of Matheny and Franklin Haynes of Florida; Sisters, Peggy Proffit of Tennessee and Sally Weidlich of Colorado; Sister in laws, Francis King and husband Russell of Ieager; 19 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren and 1 due in December. Friends may gather with the family at Blue Ridge Funeral Home on Saturday, November 7, 2015 from 1-2 pm. Services will be held at the funeral home, November 7, 2015 at 2 pm with Rev. Walter Hawkins and Rev. Robbie Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens with grandsons serving as pallbearers.
