Betty Jewell Walker

Mrs. Betty Jewell Walker, age 74 of Beckley, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at Raleigh General Hospital. Born on May 25, 1946 in Besoco, WV, she was the daughter of the late Orville Cole and Bessie Jewell Atkins Cole.

Mrs. Walker was a Christian and a member of New Life Baptist Church. She worked at the Beckley Walmart for nine years and Sam’s Club for nearly four years. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who cherished her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Brenda Cole. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 56 years, Dale Walker; her children, Deeanna Jewell Wright and her husband, Bumper, David Walker and his wife, Melissa, and April Benfield and her husband, Jeff; her grandchildren, Cetera Jewell Sewell and her husband, Adam, Lukas Wright, Daley Walker and his wife, Megan, Dustin Walker, Madison Shrewsbury and her husband, Jacob, Braydon Davis, Annalee Harvey and her husband, David, Braedyn Benfield, and Sophie Benfield; her great-grandchildren, Blake Shrewsbury, Daylen Walker and Lilly Harvey; sister, Billie Buchanan; brother, Orville Larry Cole and his wife, Sudjai; and several nieces, nephews and extend family members.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Home with Pastor Rodney Allen officiating. Entombment will follow in the Hope Mausoleum of Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.

Honoring Mrs. Walker as pallbearers will be her grandsons.
