Born May 25, 1931 in Charleston, WV; he was the son of the late Aleene Lowry Frame and the late Owen Blair Frame.
David came to live at the age of 1 with his grandparents, Steven and Nina Lowry of Sophia, where he was raised alongside his aunt and uncles until his Senior year in High School, where he met the love of his life, Dahlia Mae Hayden.
David enlisted in the US Army on January 19, 1949. Upon completing Basic Training, Infantry Mortar Training and completing his High School Education from the US Armed Forces Institute, he was assigned to the D Company, 19th Regiment, 24th Infantry Division, where he entered the Korean Conflict and received two Purple Hearts for his wounds.
He returned to the states to finish his tour as Assistant Platoon Sargent, until his honorable discharge in 1952.
During leave, David and Dahlia were married on January 24, 1952.
In June of 1953 David and Dahlia welcomed their first child, Sheila Ann and moved to Chicago, IL where he worked as a tool and die apprentice with Fisher Body. They then welcomed their second child, Michael David in 1955. David continued his career and began to work part-time in TV and Radio repair. During the year of 1959 they welcomed their third child, James Darris and in 1961 returned to their hometown of Sophia, where they would reside the remainder of their LIVES, raising all three of children successfully.
David worked at Wilcox Manufacturing in Raleigh as a Shop Foreman and began his studies in electronics and assembling at home one of the first Color TV's in town.
David continued his career with the Raleigh County Board of Education in the Audio and Visual Department under the direction of Jim Lowry and would later take on the computer era and supervising the Auxiliary Services until his retirement following 35 years of dedicated service.
David continued to stay active in the Sophia Community as a City Council Man, Volunteer Fire Fighter, and Community Planner coordinating the construction of the Sophia Library, Sophia Volunteer Fire Dept., the new Post Office, and lastly the Korean/Vietnam War Memorial.
Some of his other hobbies included model airplanes and jewelry work.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the love of his life his wife, Dahlia Mae in 2016 and his daughter, Sheila Ann Galligan in 2025.
Those left to cherish his memory and continue his legacy include his sons, Michael Frame and wife, Michelle of West Palm Beach, FL and James "Jimmy" Frame of Sophia; his beloved grandchildren, Zachary, Addison, Mackensie, Isabelle, and Ashlee; great-grandchildren, Kourtney, Rafael, Andrew, Cody, and son-in-law, Frank; extended family and friends.
The family would like to extend a special thanks and prayer to the First Baptist Church of Sophia, Caregiver, Beverly Ayers, The Kuhn Family, Dave Thomas and the Fellow Veterans Group, the VA Staff; the Hospice in Home Care Team, the staff at Bowers Hospice House, and the Mercer County Veterans Honor Guard.
Services to celebrate the life of David B. Frame will be held 1:00PM Saturday, February 21, 2026 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley with Pastor Ron Hodge officiating. Friends and family will be serving as pallbearers. Military Honors will be provided by the Mercer County Veterans Honor Guard. Following the services David will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife, Dahlia at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.
Friends may gather with the family from 12:00PM until time of the service Saturday at the funeral home.
