Donny Ray McKinney Jr.

He was born April 9th in Atlanta Georgia to Donny R. McKinney, Sr., and Lydia June Canaday McKinney. Donny was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School class of 1989. He was a Golden Gloves Novice Champ in 1990 and 1991. He had a short career as a professional boxer. Donny proudly served in the U.S. Marines for 12 years, later he served in the Army National Guard for four years. He attended Bethel Freewill Baptist Church most of his life. Donny enjoyed playing the guitar, hunting, fishing and reading. He shared a special bond with his Marine brothers.

Donny will forever be in the hearts of his three amazing children, Donny R. McKinney III, Jacob R. McKinney and Molly Rae McKinney of Philadelphia, PA. They are blessed with a wonderful mother, Maria McKinney of Philadelphia. His loving parents, Donny and Lydia (Junie) McKinney of MacArthur; sister and brother-in-law, Roderick and Kimberly Meadows of Olathe, KS; niece and nephew, R. Leland Meadows, II and Kaleigh Raye Meadows both of Olathe, KS; his best friend since high school, Rodney Murdock of Beckley; surviving grandmother, Marie Canaday; several Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.

Friends may gather with the family Friday, November 18, 2016 from 12-1pm at Blue Ridge Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held 1pm, Friday, November 18, 2016 at Blue Ridge Funeral home with Doug Holly officiating. Entombment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
