

Emma Louise Johns Rash, age 97, of Coal City, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at Genesis Center in Daniels. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have kept the faith.” II Timothy 4:7. Born on May 3, 1920, in Talladega, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Newton and Maudie Johns. Mrs. Rash was a retired seamstress. She was a charter member of the Coal City Church of God. Emma enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable gardens. She loved spending time on her sun porch watching the birds. Most of all, she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vester Rash; eleven of her twelve siblings; and daughter-in-law, Eileen Rash. Those left to cherish her memory include her three children, Ronald Rash and wife, Sandra of Cheyenne, Wyoming; Patricia Bowman and husband, Butch of Coal City, WV; Robert Rash and wife, Janice of Coal City, WV; one sister, Maudie Mellon of Talladega, Alabama; grandchildren Crystal Rupe and husband, Philip of Sophia, WV; Scot Bowman of Greenville, SC; Ronald Rash Jr. and wife, Kathleen of Cheyenne, WY; Kelli Rash and husband, Chris of Yadkinville, NC; David Rash and wife, Keri of Wilmington, NC; Robert “Turtle” Rash and wife, Brittany of Coal City, WV; five great grandchildren; and a host of church family and friends. The family would like to say thanks to the Genesis Center staff for all their love and support. A celebration of her life will be conducted at Blue Ridge Funeral Home in Beckley, on Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at 2:00 PM with Pastors Roger Lafferty and Clarence Lee officiating. Friends may visit with the family from noon till time of service on Tuesday. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Beckley, WV.
