

Frederick Ray Smith, age 83, of Beaver, passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2025. Born March 11, 1942, at Gatewood, he was the son of the late Frederick William Smith and Luella Margaret Forren Smith.
Fred was a 1960 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. He attended Beckley College and earned degrees in business and psychology. He was also a veteran of the United States Army having served in Viet Nam during the Tet Offensive.
He retired from management with Sherwin Williams after over 33 years of service.
Walking in the woods, cheering for his beloved Washington Redskins, riding motorcycles, spending time with family and playing ball with his dog Outlaw Josie Wales, were his favorite things to do.
Fred was also active in his community and was a lifetime member legacy of the VFW Post 9796 in Milton, WV; a lifetime member of the Disabled Veterans of America Chapter 2 in Huntington, WV; a member of Masonic Post 95 in Beckley for over 50 years; a member of Eastern Star Lodge 9 in Huntington, WV; VFW Post 4469 in Beckley, WV and American Legion Post 39 in Milton, WV.
In addition to his parents Fred was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Wayne Smith, brother Frederick Arthur "Teddy" Bailey and a sister Donna Sue Davis.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife Patricia Smith, daughter Kimberly Ray Grisham, granddaughter Chezleigh Grisham, sister Vickie Aliff, nephew Justin Davis, niece Brittany Phillips, nephew Wilby "Danny" Aliff, a stepson Gregory Steven Burris, three great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Kemberlynn and Christina Moore, and several other great nieces and nephews.
Friends may gather with the family on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at Blue Ridge Funeral Home from 6:00pm until 8:00pm.
Services will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at 1:00pm at Blue Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Josh Robertson officiating. Burial with military honors and masonic rites will be held at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Wilby "Danny" Aliff, Justin Davis, Alex Willis, Ralph Ferris, Cliff Adkins and Rick Robertson will serve as pallbearers.
