

Garnet Maxine Vandall, age 94, of Beckley, WV, passed away peacefully Friday August 12, 2016 at the Bowers Hospice House in Beckley with her family by her side. Born August 2, 1922 in Prudence, WV, she was the daughter of Carl Hampton Taylor and Elizabeth Mayfern Stark Taylor. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Jesse Straughters Vandall and son Jesse Dean Vandall, (two sisters): Alma Ruth Allen (Cleveland, Ohio), Frances Anita Graham (Durham, North Carolina), (three brothers), Charles Lee Taylor, (Oak Hill, WV), James Alfred Taylor (Oak Hill, WV) and William Edward Taylor, (Glen Jean, WV). Those remaining to cherish her memory are her daughters, Carolyn Jean Williams and husband Kenneth of Bradley, WV, and former daughter in law Carol Vandall Dawson of Maxwell Hill, WV. Grandchildren: Cheryl Lynn Baume of Beckley, WV, Douglas Vandall and wife Sally of Bradley, WV, John Vandall of North Carlolina, and Matthew Vandall and wife Krista of Beckley, WV. Eight Great Grandchildren: Jeremy Mayer, Jesse Mayer, Courtney Vandall, Tyler Vandall, Maria Losey, Bethany Fernatt, Luke Vandall, and Ryan Vandall. Also surviving are five great-great grandchildren Sklyer Losey, Shaylynn Losey, T.J. Vandall, Xaiver Fernatt, and Winston James Vandall. Garnet Maxine graduated from Oak Hill High School in 1940. She attended the First Church of the Nazarene in Beckley, WV and the Bradley Freewill Baptist Church in Bradley, WV. Friends and relatives may gather with the family Tuesday, August 16, 2016 from 6pm to 8pm at Blue Ridge Funeral Home in Prosperity, WV. Services to celebrate her life will be held Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at 12pm at Blue Ridge Funeral Home Prosperity, WV. Following the services she will be laid to rest at the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity. Officiating the service will be Rev. Richard Wagoner and Rev. Wayne Peters. Pallbearers will be Jesse Mayer, Jeremy Mayer, Tyler Vandall, Luke Vandall, Michael Allen, and Patrick McMillion. The family would like to thank Bowers Hospice House for their kindness and loving care they gave her during her final days. We especially thank the home health personnel from Hospice who we could not have done without. Also, we would like to thank Dr. Billy Cole, Dr. Joseph Maiolo and Dr. Jebran Karam who provided her exceptional care for many years.
