Jack Walter Bond, Jr. AKA “The Great White Hunter,” passed away and into a heavenly body on Sunday, February 21, 2021. Jack was born in Stewart, Florida on May 2, 1961 to Jack Bond, Sr. and Marketta Richmond.
If you knew Jack at all, you knew what he loved. He loved life. He loved his family, hunting and fishing, and being outdoors. He loved the beach, the state fair, and a ride on his Harley through Monroe County. He loved movies, a good book, FoxNews, and a good political debate. He loved a good steak, bologna salad, wilted lettuce, and ice cream.
Jack served his family faithfully as manager at Eastern Electric, owner of S.A.F.Electric, and manager at Hannon Electric. He was loyal and a hard worker. He was an active dad and served on the PTA, as the “Band Dad,” and welcomed any friend or neighbor into our home. He loved his wife of 40 years and treated her like a queen. He fell out of his tree stand in 2011 and became a paraplegic, but if you knew him, you heard that story as part of a beautiful testimony to the grace of God.
Jack will be remembered for his humor. He could always make us laugh with a joke, some silly song he made up, or a story. His daughter in law, Jamie, was his favorite to make giggle. Also, his knowledge of EVERYTHING! He was the guy to call for help with anything from which tires to put on your car, to how to grow a good tomato, to how to catch a catfish! He had a heart for helping others and would never turn you down, no matter what you needed! He got us all out of many jams, from running out of gas to needing help managing motherhood, to negotiating a deal on a new car.
Jack’s pride and joy were his grandkids, and he’s likely the world’s greatest papaw! His “Angel Girl,” “Little Beauty,” “Little Man,” and “Brown Eyed Girl,” made him light up and brought out the best in him. Papaw could fix anything, always had a sweet treat, showed up at every concert, ball game, or recital, and was their greatest cheerleader. They’ll all remember him for what he taught them, how he loved them, and how, “big and strong,” he was.
Jack was preceded in death by his father, Jack Bond, Sr.; sisters in law Shirley Aaron and Gail Risner and brother in law Ray Martin. Those left to cherish his memory and continue his legacy are his mother, Marketta Richmond and stepfather Joe Richmond; his sister Virginia Deli-Gatti; his wife Freida Bond; his daughter Shannon Cipoletti and husband Doug; his son Adam Bond and wife Jamie; his grandkids, Siddie, Opal, Charley and Greer; two sisters in law, Juanita Martin and Linda Clausen and husband Dan; brother in law Wesley Thomas and wife Ruth, and a slew of nieces and nephews who often viewed him as a father: Tiffiny Grose; LeJane Eagle; Zackary Morris; Brent Morris; Laura Thomas; Jimmy Thomas; Angie Thomas; Gwen Wagner; Greg Aaron; Jamie Clausen; Rachel “Dallas” Bolen; Tomi Schenker; Nancy Risner; JR Risner, James Risner, and Juanita “Bunny” Martin. Many other great nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors because he knew and was loved my many.
No formal services are planned at this time, but to honor Jack’s memory, a celebration of life will take place at a later date. He would love to see us all outside, eating, laughing, telling stories and enjoying life together.
