

James ‘Kent’ Carman, 65 of MacArthur, passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at the Bowers Hospice House following an extended illness. Born on the 11th day of April in 1949 in MacArthur, WV- he is the son of Vevitia H. Eller Carman of MacArthur and the late James Robert Carman. Kent was an avid outdoorsman having enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also found a great joy in gardening, cooking, and baking. He was also the owner and operator of Andy’s Locksmith in Beckley for over 20 years. Kent was also a member of the Hollywood Missionary Baptist Church in MacArthur. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Dean Carman. Those left behind to carry on his legacy, in addition to his mother, are his wife Charlotte Jean Carman; sons, Brandon Kent Carman and Jason Keith Lively both of Charleston; a brother, Kevin Alan Carman of MacArthur; uncle, Lowell Cawley of Beckley; a special family friend, Patricia Sizemore; and also numerous cousins and a multitude of friends. In keeping with Kent’s wishes he was cremated. A Memorial Celebration of Kent’s life will be held at 2pm Saturday, July 26, 2014 at the Hollywood Missionary Baptist Church on 155 Luray St in MacArthur, WV with Pastor Rick Martin officiating and a Eulogy by Stanley Eller. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Kent’s memory to the Bowers Hospice House 454 Cranberry Drive Beckley, WV 25801.
