Kathy Evelyn Spade

Kathy Evelyn Reed Spade, 59, of Midway, went to be with the lord on Friday, May 27, 2016 in her home following a long illness. Kathy was born in Mullens, WV to Gladys and the late Clyde Sebird Reed on July 18, 1957. She was a graduate of Sophia High School and Academy of Careers and Technology Practical Nursing. She excelled as a Licensed Practical Nurse for over 20 years and loved every second of her nursing career.

In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Ethel and James Duff and paternal grandparents. Those left to carry on her memory are her loving mother, Gladys Reed and Marvin Lilly; husband, Gerald Spade of Crab Orchard; daughters Kara Elaine James and husband Jeremy of Coal City, Becca May Whitener and husband Daniel of Beckley and Jessica Spade of Crab Orchard; son, Travis Spade and wife Tammy; grandchildren, Alexander, Bethany and Jordan James, Brodie, Calyx, Rhys and Phoenix Whitener, Eli, Anthony, Shawn, Kaitlyn and Nicholas Spade; sisters, Vicky Allen of Beaver, Brenda Hale of Pemberton, Patricia Reed Lewis of Pemberton; brothers, Doug Sr. of VA and Randy Reed of Pemberton; several nieces and nephews; many close friends that she considered family.

Friends may gather with the family Friday, June 3, 2016 from 12-2pm at Blue Ridge Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 3, 2016 at 2pm at the funeral home with Pastor Joe Cadle officiating.

Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley with friends and family to serve as pallbearers.
