Loretta Lee Sweeney 82 of Mabscott passed away Monday, December 1, 2014. Born June 8, 1932, she was a daughter of the late, Mahlon and Jewel Cooper Walker. Loretta was a member of the Calloway Heights Baptist Church and in addition to her church activities; she enjoyed fishing, picnicking, and volunteering. She was employed as a cook for the Raleigh County School System. In addition to her parents, Loretta is preceded in death by her husband, Ray Sweeney. Those left to cherish her memory include her brother, Clarence Walker; sister-in-law, Maxine Sweeney; daughters, Linda Reeves Crowell and husband, James, Doris “Ann” Westfall-Gum and husband, Michael Lee,: son, Mahlon “Gus” Sweeney and wife, Francis; daughter, Wilma Jane Earnest and husband, Ray Dean; grandchildren, David Alan Reeves and wife Cathy, Crystal Lynn Jones and husband, Clint, Pamela Sue Clyburn and husband, Robert, Rebecca Lynn Vincent and husband, Mitchell, Timothy Sweeney, Scotty Earnest and 9 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, December 5, 2014 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home Beckley with Pastor Bill Parker officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
