

Born March 8, 1932 to the late Lawrence and Elva Huggin Redden of Lanark, WV. She grew up at Garden Grounds, where she made many longtime friends.
Pearl worked at several jobs in the Mount Hope and Beckley area including several years at Bon Bon’s, Pete and Bobs and King Tut Drive Inns. She was a devout Christian, loved the Lord and was a great witness to all.
She married the late Raymond E. Martin in 1955. They lived in the Mount Hope and Lanark area before moving to Beckley where he passed away in 2002. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Hillie Redden; half-brother who made his home with her, Oaky Thompson and several half-brothers and sisters.
Those left to cherish her memory include her nieces, Meridth Miller and Pamala Garrison, of Chicago Ill and Jeanne Wright of Forsyth, GA; Randy Garcia of Beckley who was like a son; Kassie Alderman and Courtney Maxwell whom she called her granddaughters; special friends, Joyce Dooley and Darrell and Dixie Garcia. She also leaves behind many special friends at Pine Lodge Nursing Home, where she made her home the past three years, and from her church family at Hilltop Worship Center. She loved them all dearly and they loved her in return. She will be missed.
Funeral services will be held 1pm, Saturday, October 29, 2016 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home with Rev. Neal Byrge and Rev. Terry Damron officiating. Friends may gather one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens with friends to serve at pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, Pearl had requested one rose. She quoted “flowers will fade, but the word of God stands forever.” (Isaiah 40:8). Donations of sympathy may be made to The Gideon’s International, Po Box 713, Beckley, WV 25802.
