Robert Lee Spencer Jr.

Robert Lee Spencer, Jr., 79, of Scarbro, WV, passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2020 at Fayetteville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Born on January 29, 1941 in Kingston, WV, he was the son of the late Robert Lee Spencer, Sr. and Helen Virginia Powers Spencer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Judy Woods; and his brother, Homer Spencer and his wife, Natalie. Those left to cherish his memory is his wife of 58 years, Barbara Soohey Spencer; son, Robert L. Spencer, III and his wife, Deborah Lynn; daughter, Virginia Ann Wright; grandchildren, Chelsea Hooper and husband, Jimmy, Wendy Spencer, Clyde Eugene "CJ" Wright, Darren Michael Hehr and his wife, Rebecca, and Samantha Ann Hehr; great-grandchildren, Khloe, Aaron, Joey, Clyde "Bug", Willow, Maddie, Harlea and Briar; his brother, Michael Spencer and his wife, Elizabeth; and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Spencer served in the United States Air Force having been stationed throughout the United States. While serving in the United States Air Force, Robert was a part of the Strategic Air Command (SAC). SAC was responsible for the control of two of the three components of the U.S. military's strategic nuclear strike forces, know as the "nuclear triad."

He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but he loved and cherished spending time with his family.

At the request of Mr. Spencer, no services will be held. Blue Ridge Funeral Home & Crematorium has the honor of serving his family.
