ROGER LEE REED Roger Lee Reed,73, of Sophia, the most loving man in the world who was loved by all passed away Monday, February 16, 2015. Born August 25, 1941 in Whitby, he was a son of the late Jennings and Elsie Smith Reed. Roger was a hard worker, loved gardening and could fix anything. He was a coal miner and a member of the UMWA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Bevins. Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 30 years, Linda Smith Reed; children, Dewayne Makra of Sophia, Kimberly Hughes and husband, Denver of Coal City, Joe Makra and wife, Cindy of NC, Janet Berry and husband, Richard of Coal City, and adopted son, Randy Reed and wife, Priscilla of Whitby; grandchildren, Sarah Welch and husband, Aaron of Piney View, Amanda Hughes of Coal City, Samantha Kincaid and husband, Corey of NC, and Joey Makra of NC; two great-grandchildren, Chloe Miller and Lee Welch; two brothers, Dallas Reed and wife, Barbara of Coal City and William “Bill” Reed and wife, Kathy of Coal City; two sisters, Wanda Matherly and husband, Mike of Glen Morgan, and Wilma Keffer and husband, Gene of Coal City. Services to celebrate the life of Roger Lee Reed will be held 2:00PM Friday, February 20, 2015 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley. Following the services Roger will be laid to rest at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley. Friends may gather with the family from 1:00PM until time of the service Friday at the funeral home.
