

Wanda Ethel Thomas, 86, of Coal City, passed away Monday, October 24, 2016. She was the daughter of the late William Pritchard and Juanita Cales Pritchard. Born May 4, 1930 in Glen White, West Virginia. Wanda was a long, lifetime member of Coal City Community Church where she was a part of the Ladies Circle. She was head majorette at Shady Spring High School. She was a great cook (her homemade rolls were everyone’s favorite) and won several ribbons for her cooking. She worked as a school cook for 28 years and retired from Raleigh County Board of Education. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by sisters, Juanita, Patty, Jewell and Lana; brothers, Jimmy, Billy, Johnny, Charlie, Gary, Don, Eddie, Larry and Robert (Bobby). Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 66 years John R. Thomas, Sr; children, Pamela L. Allen and husband Jim and John R. Thomas, Jr and wife Margie; sisters, Ruth Ann Harville and Pearl Byrd; grandchildren, Scott Sr. , Lisa and Keith; great-grandchildren, Katlyn, Scott Jr., Drew and Andrew; great-great-grandchildren, Kadyn, Raigyn and Rivaleigh. Friends may gather with the family Thursday, October 27, 2016 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home from 12-1pm. Funeral service will be held 1pm, Thursday, October 27, 2016 at Blue Ridge Funeral home with Dr. Bob Stoddard officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens with family serving as pallbearers.
