Helena Catherine Shramek

Helena Catherine Ann (Podolski) Shramek, 86 years old, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2017. She was born on October 10, 1930 in Fall River, Massachusetts to Michael and Stephania Podolski. She married James Dale Shramek on July 25, 1959. They started their family in Somerset, Massachusetts, having two daughters Karyl and Lynn, and moved to Bel Air, MD in 1975. She worked as an accountant until her retirement, and found immense joy and personal satisfaction in doing a full day’s work, rarely ever calling out sick. Upon retirement, she volunteered with the Harford County Office on Aging preparing tax returns, until just recently. She also loved singing and had been a member of the Harford Choral Society, Bel Air Community Chorus, and the Just Having Fun Singers.

She is survived by her husband James, her sister Irene, her daughters Karyl King (and partner Paul Robillard), and Lynn Shramek (and partner Dory Shipley) and grandchildren Daniel, Ryan, and Jennifer King.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather at Schimunek Funeral Home, 610 W. MacPhail Road, Bel Air, on Monday from 4-7 pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 am at St. Margaret Catholic Church. Interment Bel Air Memorial Gardens.
