James M. Felts, of Bel Air, Maryland, passed away on Monday, October 25, 2021. He was born on March 11, 1945 to John Baker Felts, Jr. and Mildred Gray Felts. He married Susan H. Felts, whom he met while teaching fifth grade in Room 5 at Inverness Elementary School; Sue taught fourth grade right across the hall in Room 9. They spent 42 happily married years together.
Jim was a beloved, devoted, and cherished husband, father, brother, and friend who put his family above all else. His happiest times were spent enjoying the simple pleasures in life with his wife, son, and other family members and friends. He could often be found doing projects around the house, working on his model railroad and going train watching with his son, listening to his homemade mixed tapes, or soaking in the peacefulness and simplicity of the outdoors – and you could never miss him in his Ravens, Orioles, or ‘Wake Forest Dad’ cap. Jim will always be remembered for his dry sense of humor, his quiet and lighthearted nature, and his ability to make anyone laugh with his quick wit or creative storytelling.
Jim is survived by his wife, Susan H. Felts; his son, Matthew J. Felts, and his husband, Dane; and many loving nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Bob, John, Richard, and Donald. Jim will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts.
Family and friends are invited to gather at Bel Air United Methodist Church, 21 Linwood Avenue, Bel Air, Maryland, on Monday, November 1, 2021 from 11 am – 12 pm, where a funeral service will immediately follow.
