Joseph Terence Owens

Joseph Terence Owens, a retired computer technician and Corbin school bus driver for Harford County Public Schools,where he was loved by his students as well, died on February 22nd, 2015 at the age of 72 after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Joe graduated from Immaculate Heart of Mary grade school in 1956, part of the very first graduating class in the history of the school. From there he attended Calvert Hall, class of 1960. Joe served our nation with distinction in the U.S. Navy for two years of active duty, as well as the naval reserves as part of his enlistment. He was Past Grand Knight of Long Green Valley Council #8736.

Joe was born June 27, 1942, the son of the late Daniel A. Sr. and Isabel Owens (nee Wilhelm); he is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Barbara Ann Owens (nee Gentile); devoted father of Margaret (Maggie) Ann Kim Owens; dear brother of Mary Jane Sheckells, Kathleen A. Shea, John V. Owens and the late Martha Gisriel, Rita Holmes, Daniel Owens, Jr. and Pete Owens. "Uncle Joe" was adored by his 18 nieces and nephews, and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may gather at Schimunek Funeral Home of Bel Air, Inc., 610 W. MacPhail Rd., Bel Air MD 21014 on Wednesday, February 25, 2015, 2-4 & 7-9 p.m., and where a funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. Interment Moreland Memorial Park.
